TRACE: Road traffic safety education message was delivered by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Commander/CEO, CDR Seni Ogunyemi recently. The traffic-compliant message to road users in the state became necessary to ensure safety, reduce the rate of accidents, and maintain smooth traffic flow, particularly during the ember months of October to December 2023.  Since the ember months normally see an increase in the number of motorists, there is a need to educate the public on how to travel safely during this festive season. As such, a press release signed by CDR Seni Ogunyemi contained specific rules to protect you and other motorists on the road.

TRACE: Road Traffic Safety Education Message

This is to remind us of the need to ensure our Vehicles are in order for Safety Purposes and also to abide by all Traffic Laws as we go out today. Do not disobey Law Enforcement Officers on the road. These rules are reproduced below:
  1. First, be sure your Driver’s License and Car Papers are up to date; don’t assume it has not expired.
  2. Always check all necessary Oil and Water in your Vehicle before driving out.
  3. Ensure your Pointer, Brake Light, Parking Light, and others are working.
  4. Ensure your Fire Extinguisher, C – Caution, Spare Tyre, and others are intact.
  5. Do not drive against traffic (ONE WAY).
  6. To Reverse on the HighWay is a serious Traffic Offence and let’s obey the Traffic Light.
  7. For any areas you are not familiar with ensure you do your findings about the roads before driving to such areas or use Google Maps as a guide.
  8. Areas/Roads marked for No Parking please don’t park in such areas rather park inside a street off the road.
  9. Always watch out for NO PARKING SIGN before you park.
  10. If you are to park ensure your Double Pointer is on should you be in the Vehicle or not
  11. Don’t park to Obstruct Traffic.
  12. Don’t park for too long exceeding 5 minutes because it could be termed abandoned so it’s always good to park off the road.
  13. If you are to offload products from your vehicle ensure you use C – Caution to notify oncoming Vehicles and for Law Enforcement Officers around to see clearly but do not spend so much time.
  14. Should your Vehicle develop a Fault on the road make sure you use C – Caution.
  15. Do not attack Law Enforcement Officers.
  16. Avoid the use of a Phone to make calls and messages while driving.
  17. Do your best to avoid being caught up in an accident and also avoid being caught up with traffic laws.
  18.       May God bless our day. Amen. Thanks
